Ottawa Photographer Captures Highest Scoring Wedding Image in Canada

Ottawa photographer Jean Chartrand CPA received the only Award of Excellence in the Photojournalistic Wedding Category at the 2010 Professional Photographers of Canada Image Salon held in Mont Tremblant this past May.

His image entitled “Under Grandma’s Watchful Eyes” was captured at the wedding of Suchita Divi and Paavan Avadhanula held in Ottawa last year.

“During an Indian wedding there are a lot of things going on and you have to be ready at all times”, said Jean.

“During this game I noticed the bride’s grandmother intensely watching the couple. Using three electronic flashes I was able to freeze the action and create a great light pattern on the subjects. Once the image was captured I knew I had something special not only because I was able to capture the moment of impact but I believe I also captured the emotion of the moment.”

This year Jean was also awarded his Craftsman of Photographic Arts from the Professional Photographers of Canada and his Associate Designation from the Professional Photographers of Ontario.
